Most of the procedures are performed completely painlessly.
Periodontology is concerned with the maintenance of healthy periodontium. The treatment of deep dentogingival sinuses is performed with the help of non-surgical periodontal therapy (such as odontolith extraction and root canal cleaning) to remove subgingival stone. Adjuvant systemic therapy with antibiotics is used in aggressive forms of periodontal disease improve clinical and microbiological treatment outcome. In case of persistent inflammation surgical intervention is required (periodontal surgery). The marginal tissue recession with exposure of the root canal often holds an aesthetic problem to a patient. The optimal coverage of the exposed root canal could be achieved by applying various surgical techniques (periodontal plastic surgery) and tissue grafting.
